Community Tasting Notes 12

February 14, 2024 - Might be my best bottle yet. I just checked and I had posted a note back in 2015 where I concluded “better in 5 or 10 years”. Based on this bottle, I was correct. 🍷😜👍

July 12, 2023 - Burg vs Barolo Night (Meatsmith Telok Ayer): Medium pale garnet, with significant browning fading edges. Aromas of moss, fungals, brambles, twigs. Still a bit of chew on tannins, with flavours of roasted garlic mushrooms, cheese, twigs, coffee, prime rib roast, cocoa. Fairly lengthy, with mostly meaty nuances at the back. Nice!

March 14, 2020 - This is very good, and a welcome respite from the current craziness that we are experiencing - I heard on the radio this morning that wine & liquor stores are doing good business right now, so at least one segment of the economy is doing well ;^)

Adequate acidity, maybe a bit abbreviated on the finish, but tasty if not overly complex. One could do a lot worse on a Saturday afternoon. The nose has a smoked meat note that I wouldn't necessarily associate with Barolo, but it provides interest all the same.

September 14, 2018 - This is just a fabulous wine. Rich nose full of rosy aromas and elements of tar. The palate is just stunningly enjoyable with chewy, earthy, dark berries, leather, and lovely acidity. Tannins are strong, and a great ending.

March 31, 2018 - Similar in color to the Villero. The nose here is focused, with red fruits.

Good acidity, nice persistence - this is definitely drinking better than the Villero today. And this also seemingly drinks younger than the Villero.
