February 27, 2022 - Great wine! Needs some air to show. Beautiful riesling. Good nose but what a palate. Tropical fruit, a touch of botrytis and big and tasty. Good finish.

April 20, 2019 - Golden yellow. Ripe tropical fruit- pineapple, mango, lychee flavors. There is just a hint of perceptible residual sugar. The finish has a bit of bitter peach pit note. Terrific now, plenty of structure for a few years of further development

May 21, 2018 - Petrol heavy nose, with tropical fruit, thyme, and flint. Viscous, sexy texture, medium weight, slight residual sugar, integrated acidity. Long finish, kerosene and tropical fruit. The 2009 Smaragd Loibner Berg is big and funky and heavy on the petrol but excellent all the same.

June 27, 2017 - Blind tasted. Golden. Tropical nose with kerosene. Rich, unctuous tropical fruit cocktail of mangos, peach and papaya. Bitter passion fruit finish. Pure delight. I guessed Riesling 2009 but said German - however, when I saw the bottle I was reminded that it is only possible to make such tropical Rieslings in the Wachau. I tasted this 4 years ago and thought that it was time to drink up since the acidity was so much in the background - I was wrong!! It hasn't moved at all and if anything the 14% alcohol has become better integrated. Perhaps the Residual Sugar keeps it humming along? I welcome other tasters' comments on this.
