February 18, 2023 - I did a slow decant on this wine for about 7 hrs. Deep Medium color. Slight Amber on the meniscus. Ever so slight nose. Earth and aged leather, not like a gym shoe. :) Dry with balanced, and rounded tannins. Silky leg’s barely noticeable. Slight spice to the first taste. Tobacco, deep tart cherry with no sweetness and a hint of balsamic. Lingering finish lasts with the age of the wine. This wine is excellent. I gave it a 95 with 2 points for age. Lovely has some life left at its peak. Paired with Samon and Vermilion Snapper.

The longer this sits in the glass it continues to come to life. My advice on this one is if you decant, 30 minutes. The slow decant is the right approach for this wine.

July 3, 2021 - 5 hr slow ox. Decanted 30 min prior to serving. Virtually no sediment.

Great aromatics - bright red fruit, leather, herbal, anise and earthy notes on the nose.

Vibrant red color with vibrant red fruit to match, so energetic, earthy mid palate with just a hint of mahogany and tobacco showing it’s age. Tannic backbone still in place, but it did fade over the course of few hours. Thin, but persistent finish.

    Happy to have another bottle.

February 2, 2021 - Decanted for sediment, but there really wasn't any. Given the very dark color and minimal brown at the rim, I decided to aerate in decanter; it got 4 hours, but for my tastes, could have used 6-7 hours. Youthful, elegant medium body, with still fresh acidity, good+ balance, and enough structure to keep this drinking well for another 3-5 years, at least. Some tobacco, a little cranberry tinged cherry, soil/place notes, and fine tannins still holding their own. Cork and fill in good+ condition. recommended+

July 8, 2014 - Nebbiolo: peperoncino verde fresco, caffè tostato, fiori macerati, agrumi, spezie, completo, schietto , integro. Bocca equilibratissima, irrorata dall'agrume e resa intrigante dall'avvicendamento tra sale e spezie.

June 6, 2014 - Surprisingly deep color, with black cherry, tobacco, blood, and old slightly musty oak on the palate. Reveals some herbal and alpine notes with air, but also a chewy oxidative/meaty quality and starts falling apart after a few hours. Still, a good showing.
