October 27, 2021 - Dark color, big and jammy, but oxidized. Not my style anymore. I will have to consider that bolognese.

September 5, 2021 - Pretty gross. Used for bolognese.

  • Nico P. Likes this wine:

March 5, 2020 - 14.5% Showing tertiary notes- old leather, earth. Still inky dark red, no fading. In the mouth plums, licorice. Decent amount of tartness, tannins fully integrated. 13 years old and stunningly good for the price. The winemaker no longer owns the winery though.

January 27, 2015 - One flavour, defies description. Not fizzy so perhaps a cooking wine?

December 13, 2013 - Solid, nicely balanced and tasty - not exciting though

(66 Mas de la Deveze) 2007 Devèze Dear Friends, This just arrived in my “in” box and it’s a doozy of an offer. If you are into 2007 in the South of France, I urge you to read on... Olivier Bernstein has dabbled with a technology career (and recently with Burgundy) but his soul rests in the old vines of the Roussillon. It is here that his Mas de la Devèze has changed the game and planted a blueprint for others to follow. I have no doubt that his 2007 portfolio will rank as one of the greatest ever produced in the environs outside of Perpignan and it will challenge many around Avignon at a fraction of the price. Sometimes, it’s simply about the fruit - the raw materials that went into this set would make the typical winemaker in most regions of the world blush with envy. With 90-110 year old vines to work with and results that taste like time-capsules of terroir, in 2007, Mas de la Devèze produced a magnum-sized expression of fruit, sticks and stones and compacted it into a 750ml bottle...and they did it twice (with the “66” and the “Vieilles Vignes”). If you purchase high-end Chateauneuf-du-Pape, both of the wines below will graciously go toe-to-to with your more expensive bottles and the VV will leave many of your $50 favorites in the dust. For the tariff, these are head spinning wines... 2007 Mas de la Devèze Cotes du Roussillon Villages (66) - (compare at $16-20+) 2007 Mas de la Devèze Cotes du Roussillon “Vieilles Vignes” (Villages) - VERY RARE (compare at $25-30) ONE SHIPMENT ONLY directly from the winery cellar with perfect provenance.
