September 19, 2020 - Decanted one hour. Pure, concentrated black fruit forms the core of this wine with notes of roasted meat, black pepper, licorice, and river rocks. This was my last of three bottles. It's become quite integrated and not quite as interesting but still wonderful. I don't see it improving from here so drink up.

Tasted today, partly in connection with the impending end of the drinkability horizon according to WA. There is no need to panic, this wine still shows no trace of fatigue, not in the color, not in the smell and certainly not in the taste. Fully consistent with my tasting notes from 5/19/2019, 11/24/2012 and 10/12/2011.

April 18, 2020 - Initial PnP: On the nose = some funk, some red fruit, and lots of earthy bramble. On the palate = Lots of charcoal, red and dark red fruit, and searing acidity.
Decanted for only 40 minutes and the wine continued to open during the meal. Give it a decant of 1 hour or more to open, and to separate sediment.
With air, the nose opened to blow off the funk, tone down the earthy bramble, and add more red berries. The medium plus bodied palate added lots more red berries and some blue fruit, plus good doses of spice and pepper. The acidity is medium plus, but needed to balance all of the fruit, while the tannins are completely integrated. A big wine that should hold for at least several more years.
Marking (NOT celebrating!) one month of SIP.

February 28, 2020 - Huge wine, with deep blackberry and blueberry notes back with cinnamon and grilled meat aromas.
