    June 28, 2019 - Seemed tired

February 8, 2019 - Perfect cork and fill. Dark red to rim, dark ripe fruits, herbs, tar on nose, full body, lush layered ripe fruit, hints of oak, nice balance, mellow tannins, medium finish, no real complexity but still excellent.

December 13, 2018 - Opened an hour before serving with burgers off the grill. The cork broke in half — kids screaming in my ear, I was probably overly anxious — but the bottle was in great shape. To my palate this was merlot masquerading as cabernet — or, in my wife’s more eloquent description, “a slutty wine...like sinking into a velvet couch”.

This would never be mistaken for Bordeaux. This taster can not discern any meaningful change in the wine from the initial sniff to the final sips now three hours later. And though it is one dimensional, that dimension is pretty nice. If served blind I might have guessed a somewhat younger New World merlot.

None of this, alas, is to disparage the wine. It was in fact quite tasty. A sexy wine; big but not overwhelming; plum and coffee rather than jam and wood; nicely balanced; tannins present but resolving; and fairly long. Though the future is hard to predict, it is very much still flexing its muscles at 19. Those who appreciate this style (and admittedly I am not generally one of them) could do far worse.

November 7, 2018 - First glass PNP: Really enjoyable again, perhaps showing more youthful fruit than he last bottle... lovely dark berry fruit with slate and light tannins. Maybe a slight buttery note on the nose?

Day 2 (50% of bottle left, corked and left in cool room) execellent, still fresh tasting on day two, a good sign for longevity of these bottles. Buttery note is gone and fruit is slightly more developed and open, acid tannin and crushed rock remain with just a hint of tobacco. Lovely.

October 26, 2018 - Similar notes as previous tastings. A bordeaux like wine with blackberries, black cherries, plums, licorice, leather, and some earthiness in the nose. Black raspberries, blackberries, black cherries, and a hint of chocolate in the flavor. Well balanced wine with a long finish.
