July 14, 2023 - 2nd of 6, decanted 40 minutes, perfect cork and level, turning to pale gold, more lemon curd, increased complexity and greater persistence and concentration than the edgier first bottle in Nov 21, interestingly showed light oxidation initially which seemed to blow off, after an hour fresher, more linear and more nuanced, clear upside, 10+ years. VF (18.5).

November 12, 2021 - 1st of 6, decanted 20 minutes, perfect cork and level - pale yellow, youthful, notably unctuous; quality oak notes not fully integrated, lemon prominent, fresh and linear, fruits mostly orchard and not tropical but muted, not very complex; medium, long, persistent and concentrated, flavours consistent with nose, slightly too acid, decent energy, hard to tell whether fruit is now in decline or shortly to emerge, if latter significant upgrade possible. F+ (18).

August 5, 2021 - La Tâche Dinner (RPM Steak - Chicago IL): Also disappointing, this didn't seem tired, just lackluster. In fact it seemed nicely fresh for its age, but showing none of the density I ever expect from Montachet. Inconsistent with previous bottles, granted those were not recent.

June 10, 2020 - Kernel, honeysuckle, rice cracker and nut fruit on the nose. Palate was rich and powerful with vibrant acidity. A complex wine that evolved throughout the night.

April 16, 2020 - Linear and racy for a Montrachet, a complete (pleasant) surprise. A reviewer below said it is like a great grand cru matured chablis and I agree (in a good way). Crushed minerals and a nearly painful cutting edge resonate with some great internal stuffing and depth. I would not have guessed Montrachet. Bouchard can have some bottle variation and I can't help but think I've got a good one.
