Wednesday, September 21, 2022 - Gorgeous translucent purple in the glass, with aromas of creme de cassis, asian spices, violets, menthol and dank earth. Muscular, taut and impressive, this shines with rich and dense layers of dark fruit combined with excellent precision. All the earth and mineral driven components are there, along with huge, fine grained but gripping tannins that keep the flavor somewhat at bay. Super long finish. Had this PnP, and you can tell it's going to be shut down with some air. Needs to rest, but this will be excellent.

I am easy- was in college and some things don’t change later in life… although who knew grapes would be more expensive than barley? Glad you are having fun on the Bordeaux train. It’s crazy how much more ‘affordable’ these really well made wines are than Napa. I know older wines aren’t your thing but it would be fun to taste you on the 2010 if you ever end up in AZ. We did a line up from 2000 - 2021 (broken up in two tastings at the chateau one 3 years ago 2000 - 2016 and this past trip 2015-2021).

9/22/2022 8:10:00 PM - I am totally polarized by BDX. I've had many older versions in great vintages I hate, like literally dirt water with lots of acidity. And then 2019 came around and I love this vintage. So I'm not sure what to make of it all, but certainly a big vertical would help set me straight. Don't get any ideas however - I don't give it up on the first date.
