Sunday, February 26, 2012 - Drank alongside a 1970 Chateau Latour, this vintage has character. The cork was impossible to get out and we had to filter the wine into the decanter. The wine was left to breathe for slightly less than an hour. My initial concerns were that we would have lost the aroma out of the bouquet, but was wrong. The colour was a wonnderful claret colour full of life as opposed to a dark brooding maroon. The initial bouquet was pleasant with hints of leather and cedar mixed with blackberries. The first taste was surprisingly closed and led me toinitially prefer the Latour. As time progressed, this wine continued to evolve and open leading to some wonderful long drawn tastes which remained on the pallet for a while. As good as the Latour. One questions, if this bottle were kept in pristine condition like the Latour, would this have out performed?
