Friday, April 17, 2015 - A plush, aromatic Chianti. I would say, un-critically, that it reminds me of cheaper Chiantis of ages past. Some searching revealed it is blended with Cannaiolo, which I imagine is the source of those softer, plumier qualities. Warm, ripe fruit, soft but persistent tannin, balanced acid. Some oak influence.
I still prefer the pure (or close to pure) sangiovese tuscan wines, but this is still a very decent wine for the price point. Short to mid-term drinking.
