Friday, September 1, 2017 - Yet another brilliant vintage of the wine that brought well-deserved fame and glory to star wine-maker Klaus-Peter Keller and his team. The 2016 von der Fels is of course still a baby but what a baby it is! The nose reveals profound citrus zest, a whiff of elegant minerals, crisp and lovely elderflower and last but not least classy orange zest. The intriguing part is the complexity found in this wine which perhaps even makes the nose worth dying for when the baby fat is gone? The palate adds to the first impressions in a stunning way and everything plays along in a harmonious way. Texture and structure promise a lot for the future. This wine is in it for the longer haul and also for future greatness. It will continue to develop nicely for a number of years - I am totally convinced. A lovely wine of which you should buy as much as you can possible find! Served from magnum tonight. (score is 94+)
