2003 Château Léoville Poyferré

Tuesday, September 20, 2022 - You should always drink wines in kind...TIme and time again, I say this to friends. Dont mix your salad with your desert and dont mix your Bordeaux with your California Cabs/Reds.

Tonight this showed very generic and in-between something teetering on confusion and hesitation. No signs of aged Bordeaux qualities, yet not as lush as the older California wine next to it. The oak creme was evident, the acidity was evident, the structure was evident, and the fruit was absent or asleep. The 2003 vintage is all about fruit, so this was just a mess for the money. Hopefully just a bad bottle...drink again.
