Thursday, February 2, 2023 - Sassafras, cherry, bacon fat and baking spice aromas. Oak vanillin up front on the initial pour. Evolved with air to reveal a rounded, velvety palate, with a dark chocolate finish. Medium acidity, substantial tannic structure, bold yet overall balanced.
Plenty of structure here, should easily go 3-5 more years. An atypical Pinot for sure, new oak has a major role, more Bordelaise than Burgundian. That said, lots of substance for the price, not spoofy, in an 'older' style that showcases elevage over terroir.
