Friday, September 22, 2023 - Sensational. I was advised to wait until around now to try it … and glad I did. It’s opening up and generous in a way it had not been six years ago.

Nobody will ever call this a great vintage, but it’s a very good wine in a n imperfect year, and the 2006 is thus a good winemaker’s wine that is representative of the “expected” performance of the estate and the appellation . There’s no mistaking it as a Pontet-Canet or a Paulliac.

Put differently - I served it to my adult children at dinner and told them to be honest about the wine; if they like this, they like Bordeaux. If they don’t, then Bordeaux is not their thing yet but it might be in time - meanwhile have fun in Napa, Sonoma and Washington state.

Youth always feels they must chart their own course...do something different.

Most are being courted by the craft beer and spirits industry, very heavily. Wine consumption among the younger folks is down considerably every year.....

Most don't have the discretionary income to afford the better wines. There are some bad times coming for the wine industry over the next 20-25 years.......worldwide.
