Monday, December 11, 2023 - A wine of prettiness and energy. The small village of Lessona makes some beautiful expressions of Nebbiolo with a few local blending grapes. The wines are typically less big and concentrated than Barolo or Barbaresco, and obscure their mid-weight fruit depth in exchange for impressively complex and detailed aromatics. Lots of high toned florals, tart cherry, rhubarb, white truffle, fresh fennel, star anise. The palate has very bright acidity and the typically high Nebbiolo tannin is there, but with tender texture. Ready to drink, can hold a few more years, but you'll be trading precious fruit for more earthy flavors.
