Tuesday, March 10, 2009 - Latour a Pomerol Vertical tasting (FOF): Dark red color and still with a purple hue. Delicious aromas of blackcurrant, scorched earth and iron in a warm, sweet and inviting mixture. Good concentration of the taste with full-bodied sweet and juicy fruit. On the finish it has notes of dark licorice, cigarbox, iron and marzipan. Very pure and refined, in superb balance where the fruit stretches onto the long finish. Seems very well made, almost polished with the smooth mouthfeel, but one can feel the powerful acidic backbone lurking underneath.
