Monday, March 22, 2010 - I've been through many bottles of this wine, and this was the first to turn a corner. It is no longer showing a tropical palate, and is also not showing the fatness of the '06 vintage. Perhaps it's closing down. There is straw/hay on the palate, and the distinct wool quality of Louis Michel, on a frame that is much more reduced than past bottles, which were bigger and more tropical. The alcohol is just a tad out of proportion. It's pure, although the straw/hay/grain element compromises the clarity, and it seems to have lost some of its freshness. I don't know whether this is going to sleep and will emerge in time, or whether it began as big and tropical and is now in a decline.
