Under screw cap...started out angular and a little musky. Screw cap did its job so far as showing bright lemon/lime freshness, shimmering green gold color...BUT...also shows a metallic edge, angular, fumes, and just plane rough. Very little Chablis character...maybe a little crushed oyster and citrus, but also has a little petrol ala Bord Blanc. Would be interesting to see how the cork version is? Still drinkable, with some nice notes here and there, just not up to Louis Michel quality...not a fan of this one. Will see what tomorrow brings...if anything.

Note: I use a scale on which 85 represents a very good wine.
Lately, I have been trying to avoid drinking the entire bottle in one evening (when alone). But this wine was drinking so nicely, I knocked down the whole bottle.
As I noted 18 moths ago: Very nice bottle, well-aged, but not at all past its prime. Round fruit well-balanced with some acidity.

Nice chardonnayfruit, but this wine is underachieving. Anonymous but balanced fruit. Not much aging to see or taste either. A beautiful nose of gooseberries, but that is the most fun part of this wine.

From a 375. Too advanced for me. Starting to show, for my palate, a significant oxidization. More than it's age would suggest. To the point where a bit of wet dog fur enters into the description. From a screwcap, not overtly flawed or corked.. My experience with this wine, over several vintages has been the same. Just not good at all. Drain cleaner.

Seemed to have a burst of sulphur for only a minute, then clean with lemon, tidal pool, driftwood. Has a medium body and lemon and chalky mineral plate. We had with mussels in white wine and lemon sauce, which was an ideal pairing.

Nose of slate, toffee, apple, lemon, pear, chalk. On the palate, golden delicious apple, fig, lemon, mineral, caramel. Finishes nice and round. Probably time to drink these up, seem to be on the way out. Still far more interesting than most New World chards at this price.

Found a couple more of these in the cellar. Wow, is this terrific right now, especially on the second day. Golden fruit, smooth rather than tangy or acidic lemon, apples, chalk dust (torture), trademark L. Michel wooliness and just a hint of nuts, all on a bouyant, giving platform. This is an '06 that has shed the tropical notes of its youth and has taken on a worsted internal texture inside of a somewhat polished, rounded exterior, all the while giving off pure Chablis nuances. Slightly lower acidity than usual for a Michel Chablis, plus the rounded edges, suggest to me that this is best enjoyed short term, and I wish I had saved more of these bottles for that purpose.

Tasted from 375ml - pop & pour. Loved this wine - pale yellow color. Lemon / citrus / grass? on nose - very crisp on the palate - surprisingly full bodied with very rich acidity - medium + finish. Palate consistent with nose but more minerality on the palate. Much, much better with food. I don't drink enough white wine to give a formal rating but on my system I would rate this 90-92. Will buy again and would be a great match with seafoood.

A very good showing. Any tropical notes that I detected in early bottles are nowhere to be found now. Trademark Louis Michel wooliness, along with apple fruit. Good clarity. Drinking very nicely.

Second time this week with this wine, and this bottle is way better. Very pure, not complicated by oak, just lovely apple skin and sweet apple fleshy fruit on the palate. There is a hint on the nose of vanilla bean, but I don't mean to suggest oak b/c this wine, to my knowledge, is all stainless. Really nice showing.

Consistent with my note last month. The tropical element from this wine's youth seems to have disappeared, but now the wine lacks focus. Not an impressive showing.

I've been through many bottles of this wine, and this was the first to turn a corner. It is no longer showing a tropical palate, and is also not showing the fatness of the '06 vintage. Perhaps it's closing down. There is straw/hay on the palate, and the distinct wool quality of Louis Michel, on a frame that is much more reduced than past bottles, which were bigger and more tropical. The alcohol is just a tad out of proportion. It's pure, although the straw/hay/grain element compromises the clarity, and it seems to have lost some of its freshness. I don't know whether this is going to sleep and will emerge in time, or whether it began as big and tropical and is now in a decline.

This is a nice representative Chablis I think. Lemon, stone, minerals and quite crisp. A little on the tart side but enjoyable with air. 87 Day 2 - still going strong and in better balance tonight. 88

Nose of dried seafood and over-ripe fruit. There is a peculiar character to this wine. Palate of steely and salty minerals, lemon curd, strangely heavy mouth feel. Those who like gamy and aggressive flavors may find this intriguing but it was off-putting to me. Tasted formally in a large group (wine class) with consistent notes.

Very forward, showing some tropical notes consistent with the vintage, with Chablis wooliness on the back palate. Lacks the structure of, say, an '05 Chablis, but still a fresh and pleasing wine. Prelude to the Sangio tasting at our place with the girls group.

At the same time, there is one half Chablis wooliness, one half tropical. Needs some time to unify. After three nights of air: steely, minerals, alcohol sticking out. Needs a year or so of sleep to come together.

Opened and not decanted. Served slightly chilled. Starts out with an acidic entry with green fruit and switches gears to an odd taste that I've never had before. I can only describe it as tasting like the smell of our dried cat food (Hills Prescription Diet R/D for the catophiles) which is pungent and animalistic. It's not unpleasant but it is strong and over powering. Ends with a green and sour finish. Fair. Needs food.

Excellent, and even better given the price. Enjoyed with salade Nicoise and ahi tuna. Drank well chilled. Crisp, clean finish, distinictive Chablis floral notes in bouquet with crisp mineral mouth. Frankly, I was enjoying myself so much I did not take time to think through my notes - but I went ahead and bought 2 more bottles a few days later!

Nose of meyer lemon, fig, pear, green apple, limestone. On the palate, green apple, fig, pear, lemon. Very clean finish with crisp acidity and a nice mineral kick. Nothing complex about this, just an excellent everyday food wine that puts the butter bombs to shame. Great value. Drink over the next two years.

(Drank at Kinkead's.) Lithe frame, bone dry on the attack, and shows a fruity midpalate of kiwi and other tropical fruit. The finish is clean, refreshing, and a bit flinty. This was a good, simple match for the salmon and shellfish with which we drank it.

Not quite as enjoyable as the last bottle I had a few weeks ago. Decent, but not as rich or flavorful. Totally shot on Day 2.
