Wednesday, February 23, 2011 - Medium garnet core, medium pale garnet rim. Nose is relatively evolved with smoky red and black berry fruit, earth and spice notes. Lacking a little of the ripeness and purity in this vintage that this wine customarily displays, but still an attractive nose. There is perhaps just a hint of pepperiness but not enough to detract in any meaningful way. Medium/full bodied on the palate and again quite developed with smoky, spicy mainly red-toned fruit and notes of soil. The tannins are fine and well integrated and there is good acidity carrying an attractive lingering, spicy finish. Pleasant and well balanced without being outstanding, certainly drinking well now but no hurry either.
