92 Points

Sunday, December 11, 2011 - Dinner with Monthly Group at Sabai Thai (Sabai Thai, Ngee Ann City): I thought this was very good. It had a classic Mosel nose of honey and nectar, peach and apples, a touch of flowers and a ncie bit of mineral. Nice. The palate had a certain amount of richness to it, but this was wed to beautiful definition and well-integrated acidity, so that the wine was wonderfully balanced as it opened up with flavours of apples, peaches and a slight tropical lilt. As with the 2010 Kabinett from the same plot, there was a bit of ripeness here, but I thought this was perhaps the better poised and balanced wine. I liked the finish too. Creamily textured yet nicely fresh, it drifted off with notes of mineral, spice and white flowers peeking out from amongst white fruited tones. Really nice even in its youth, but this really deserves time in the cellar.
