  • Prior bottle was just over five months ago, so my notes were quite similar. White apple and white peach along with pear and citrus on the nose; the combination was quite pretty. Medium bodied showing white apple and white peach upfront, with highlights of pear. The mid-body continues to show impressively with the white upfront notes giving way to yellow apple and yellow peach, back with white tropical qualities that are starting to reveal themselves. These elements are all bound together with citrus, tart whitefruit and acidity on the back and through the finish. This gave the wine structure as well as providing acidity-jacketed definition to the mid-body fruit notes. These contrasts made for a very enjoyable bottle and also suggest a good number of years of life ahead. I'll certainly purchase more if the opportunity presents.

  • White apple, pear, citrus and some peach notes on the nose. Medium bodied (8% ABV) with white peach, white apple and pear upfront. Broadens through the middle, adding additional white peach along with some hints of yellow peach as well as some other, richer notes, hiding in the background. Acidity is excellent and noticeably more vibrant than the 2009. Also shows more in the way of contrasting citrus qualities (tart orange, tart lemon and lime). Finish has more length as a result and the mid-body fruit feels better defined. Overall, I'd say to my personal tastes, I liked the 2010 more, but felt they were ultimately equivalent (roughly) in terms of general excellence. The 2010 has more acidity, more citrus qualities and more tart notes while the 2009 had a bit more complexity of fruit notes and was a bit richer. The 2010 will have a longer life and while I'd like to say I'll save my next bottle until at least June 2022, given how well this wine is drinking now, it's quite possible I'll open it sooner.

  • Quick note. This was terrific. Surprisingly fresh, with a still vibrant acid line cutting the stone fruit and sweetness. Full-bodied (for a riesling), yet supple.

  • Family brunch, no TN.
This was stunning: great complexity (lots of citrus fruit), very sharp and energizing, barely sweet. A wonderful Spaetlese.

  • Opened by a guest at Allred's. This had a nice unctuous quality with some lovely petrol, stone fruit and an unusual touch of Sage and Rosemary that I can't remember ever encountering before. Just gorgeous.

  • Second Sunday Group: 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Our house): Courtesy of Peter. Stone fruit with a terrific savory component underneath- something along the lines of basil. Bright acidity with a long finish. Lovely. 92-93 pts.

  • True golden color. Super nose of pure Riesling fruit that is just starting to show secondary aromas of petrol and crushed stones. Nectarine skin jumps from the class of this very complex and deep wine. On the heavier side of spatlese and just loaded with extract. Glorious. (95)

  • Not quite as enthusiastic as some reviewers. This is quite a bit more expensive than the Kabinett, but the step up in quality is minimal. The style is very similar. Lovely fruit. Pleasantly sweet. Delightful. Perhaps could be a trifle more ethereal. Though this is of course rather young still.

  • nice lime blossom and slightly lime-candy-like flavours but seems a bit too sweet and just a little too weighty, certainly refreshing in the finish though and quite drinkable

  • Really good stuff. Reminds me a lot of the '08 with a wonderful purity to the fruit, plenty of sweetness up front but sizzling acidity balancing it and keeping it very light, nervy and refreshing despite its size, and a vivid slatey character augmenting the fruit. Lovely.

  • Just got my 2010s cellared and ordered my 2011s. Popped open the 2010 spatlese to get a taste of how this will someday be. light gold-yellow color. the nose is peculiar. my wife found it very off-putting, but i enjoyed it. very complex nose of herbs and veggies. no fruit on the nose. it was also a cool, almost cold nose. not that huge big citrus nose you can sometimes have a riesling. great mouthfeel. flavorful, sleek, but lingering. made you want to smile. on the palate thats when the fuit hits. its creamy in the mouth and you have the herbs and green leafy veggies that progress to stone fruit and some acid on the end. no sulfur this early on, which is to be expected...i always try to avoid the sulfur-y funk period of my rieslings. nice finish, around 30s, but you can lick your teeth and get a feel of it back! this is gonna lay down and cellar nicely. i'll probably pop my next one open in 2020 and drink onwards from there. a typical intellectual adam wine. glad i have a full set of 2011s on the way!!

  • Bought recently from Crush. Light gold-yellow. Cool and complex nose of herbs, vegetation and green leaves, brown spices, mint, peach and peach pit, apricot, honey, and white raisins. Very multidimensional. The mint is especially entrancing with spearmint and menthol aspects. The herbal aspect takes the fore over the fruit. A cool nutmeg-eggnog aroma arises with time. A little more monolithic on the palate - honey, peach and white raisins, with brown spices: nutmeg and cumin and green leaves coming out later in the palate. Compelling mouthfeel - full of flavor and texture, but sleek and focused. The long finish starts with the green leaves, moves through the spices to the cool mint at the end. This is excellent and a significant step up from the Kabinett in my opinion. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je Ne Sais quoi - 1.5/2 = 17/20.

  • Dinner with Monthly Group at Sabai Thai (Sabai Thai, Ngee Ann City): I thought this was very good. It had a classic Mosel nose of honey and nectar, peach and apples, a touch of flowers and a ncie bit of mineral. Nice. The palate had a certain amount of richness to it, but this was wed to beautiful definition and well-integrated acidity, so that the wine was wonderfully balanced as it opened up with flavours of apples, peaches and a slight tropical lilt. As with the 2010 Kabinett from the same plot, there was a bit of ripeness here, but I thought this was perhaps the better poised and balanced wine. I liked the finish too. Creamily textured yet nicely fresh, it drifted off with notes of mineral, spice and white flowers peeking out from amongst white fruited tones. Really nice even in its youth, but this really deserves time in the cellar.

  • 2010 German Riesling Spätlese Blind Tasting (Beautiful Wines, Singapore): Definitely an intellectual wine. This was electrifying in terms of acidity and ripeness. Pungent nose. Big, robust and very energetic. A turbo-charged Riesling which no doubt needs some modesty.
Second day this definitely tamed down tremendously. Nose was more reticent but tastes firmly at the Spätlese level with a hint of botrytis. Very oily textured. The acid is less obvious at the entry and mid-palate but lingers on at the finish. Rather short finish though (if you discount the acidity).

  • Reticent nose. Lots of fruit and body with honey, peach, and other lush stone fruits. Clearly an off-dry wine.
