Wednesday, December 22, 2010 - A private dinner (Restaurant Northcote Manor *, Langho, Blackburn, UK): A full-throttle, no holds-barred powerhouse of a VVF (totally different from the 1998), but beautifully layered, fleshy and velvety, very refined mousse, ripe acidity and the most complex flavour profile I have ever encountered in a Champagne (vanilla, gingerbread, nuts, fishiness, melon, strawberries - the list is endless). Powerful and concentrated, vinous and rich but with a finesse that makes you want to drink it by the bucket. Excellent length. Not for the long term but a joy to drink now - 2015.
