89 Points

Friday, December 1, 2006 - Dusty, medium to dark brick/garnet in colour. A complex nose of red and black cherry, earth, soy and leather; after initial barnyard notes that blow off after a few minutes in the glass. Savoury red and black cherry with a sour edge on the palate enhanced by a harmonious acidity, clads a frame of rustic earthiness, over a firm mineral foundation. Balanced with soft tannins, and a mere nuance of bitterness on a medium-length finish. Over two nights the wine gains in aromatics, weight, and spiciness on the finish. Worth cellaring for the long term.
