90 Points

Saturday, April 14, 2012 - Retail purchase, held 4 years. Aromas continue to be the best expression of this 2000, and they don't disappoint now. That said, one of the attractive elements in the nose is also a reflection of relatively young and/or slightly underripe vines, which preserve the acidity and help longevity, even if you don't ever really achieve the depth of flavor, power, and expression you get with the 2000 Leoville Las Caeses. This continues to be fresh, lively, well dileneated, and a good food wine, but clearly shorter, not as deep. Having just tasted the 2011 en primeur, it is instructive to taste this one. Nice wines worth the tariff, but not sure they completely benefit from holding for a decade.
