Sunday, April 29, 2012 - From memory: Decanted for almost three hours before tasting. Dark ruby colour. Beautiful, complex nose; dark cherries, mocha, oak spice, vanilla, raw mushrooms and damp forest floor. On the palate; powerful and opulent without being brute or one dimensional – there’s a whole lot of depth and finesse here too. Plenty of structure to balance out the high level of extraction. By far the best Chianti Classico I’ve had to date. Drinks beautifully today provided it’s given time to breathe. Will most likely continue to provide pleasure for another ten to fifteen years.
