Monday, September 3, 2012 - Purchased two botttles of this wine a couple of years ago because I was hoping to try an affordable version of Pingus. Had a local wine store order them for me. Was planning to wait until 2013, but recently read the review of Pingus by the Wine Advocate. They rated this wine at 86 and described the finish as flabby; thought I had better try it. Double decanted the wine about 2 hours before serving. Served with grilled pork chops. Nose was more developed and full than I expected; blackberries, herbs, smoky. Mouth was relatively full, with high acid, slight chalkiness initially, and full round tanins in the finish, and moderate length. I thought this was better than expected based on the WA review and I hope to purchase some of the 2009 and 2010.
