Thursday, May 9, 2013 - Year in and year out the Wigan Riesling and Margaret Semillon are a couple of my most anticipated whites to try , especially given there great value in terms of price.
The 08 Wigan is no exception, a light yellow in colour with the nose having dense lime peel and citrus characters with a touch of kerosine that is not out of place.
The palate shows depth and interest which is sometimes missing from the variety in its youth.
Lemon pith, lime and briney oyster shell gain depth from chalky acidity, the wine finishes with grapefruit and considerable length.
