Wednesday, September 28, 2016 - Our last bottle and what sadness that gives us.

A wine that got better and better and better ; a wine of great generosity and style. Vanilla , blueberries, kirsch, and a faint hint at new leather make the wine so interesting to taste. It was fun to drink and it is rare that we say that. Nothing harsh , nothing astringent at all , just soft tannins and a gentle , but structured , mouthfeel. Matched classically with roast lamb and redcurrant reduction it was absolute perfection. Not a blockbuster but a very pleasing more modern style of Bordeaux. It was so good that one of our number who tasted it blind thought it at LEAST of second growth quality/precision.

If D'Aiguilhe 2010 is representative of new style Bordeaux we think it is in very safe hands . Indeed we liked this bottle more than the famous producer's wine from more illustrious and higher ranked vineyards in the same vintage. SUPERB FOR THE PRICE.
