This wine is ready to drink now, nothing to wait for. Opulent from the start, soft and delicious middle taste, lots of ripe fruits, nice long aftertaste. Great wine, highly recommended!

Initially an unappealing nose of varnish and rum pot and coffee. Needs air. Better after being open for a few hours. This is still quite tannic and chewy on the palate, with high acidity, tobacco leaves, rose petals, and a sweet oxidized plum and cherry fruit. A strange mix of tannic, sweet, salty, bloody and hot/alcoholic elements - almost tastes like a hot vintage Barolo with some age. No elegance here, but it works fine with food. I guess my palate and the style of Chateau d'Aiguilhe just don't match in these vintages/years of overextraction and maximum ripeness. Did not fully enjoy the 2008 and 2009 either. Drink now. - 88 points

Clearly in a perfect spot right now. Still very healthy red with no ageing apparent. Tannins nicely melted away giving rise to tertiary aromas. Unfortunately last bottle :(

I like this producer and buy a few bottles in most vintages. This 2010 is delicious. Mix of pure dark and red fruit, well balanced, acidity adding freshness to balance out all that fruit, and enough going on to keep it somewhat interesting. Tannins and alcohol are well integrated. This likely has more than a few good years left.

Decanted and back into cleaned bottle. A big, thick, modern style of wine. Plums, cassis, leather, cedar and a bit of tar. Medium bodied with tannins resolving nicely this is in a pretty good place. Good qpr and a good food wine.

Intense nose of blackcurrant jam and pencil shavings. In the mouth, concentrated sweet fruit and a deft dose of thick, dusty tannins. Good length. Fun to drink, albeit a bit one-dimensional. This may become more interesting with a bit more cellaring. But good to go with an entrecôte or a pizza.

Decanted for an hour and back into cleaned bottle for serving with dinner. This is a big, modern, fruit forward style of wine. Lots of dark fruits, cassis, tobacco and cedar. Smooth, medium bodied with still resolving tannins, this should still show improvement with time. A useful wine.

Gorgeous nose, turned earth, potting soil, light must, sandalwood, dried red fruits. Palate shows more structure than expected, still young tannins, fresher than the nose, dried black fruits, big style for Merlot. Excellent QPR.

This is drinking beautifully. Dark fruit, blueberries and blackberries with cedar, herbs and garrigue. It’s velvety and rich on the palate. Acidity is high and the tannins after 12 years are still quite grippy. Beautiful complexity, concentration and length. It’s drinking well now but still could go at least 5-10 more years easily.

30 min decant, cork half shredded. Properly aged in temperature controlled cellar. Wonderful Cocoa, pepper, dark fruit and earthy tertiary aromas and spice. Great qpr. If aging properly drink or feel free to hold a bit longer. Just be ready for the cork!

as of 2022: open an hour early; decanting would be OK, but haven't tried this approach yet. It really opens up after an hour or so. Quite lovely, classic Bordeaux. After one hour, boysenberry, cassis, frais des bois, blueberry, walnuts, raspberries, citrus, in layers. As we approach the last sip, cocoa and chocolate emerge. One must wonder what else there might be if we had more. One may have to open another as you get to the end.

Wine was properly stored from purchase upon release until consumed. Beautiful classic bordeaux bouquet: dark berries - blueberry, blackberry; then lighter berries come out - cassis, raspberry, strawberry. Lovely wine.

I have had several vintages of this wineand always enjoyed so was a bit disappointed in this 2010, a medium full to bodied wine , some slightly dusty tannins persist despite a significant sediment . My main issue was the presence of ‘ stewed fruit ‘ . Perhaps grapes picked a little late , perhaps some over extraction?? Whatever good but definitely not great .

Deep and concentrated aromas of blackberry, creme de cassis, and plum tarte with notions of pipe tobacco, cedar box, and some crushed gravel. Full bodied and nicely integrated on the palate. The alcohol (15%) sticks out a little here but doesn't completely ruin the party. Med length finish with a final hit of cassis. Doesn't have the length or complexity of its bigger brothers, but this is in a fantastic spot for drinking and really quite delicious.

Dark ruby red Bold nose full of mature dark fruit with plenty of blackberry and raspberry on the edge of over maturation. Well balanced and elegant but not hiding the muscles.
In the mouth it0s round, full, velvety. With a right point of acidity, just enough to balance everything in. Well integrated tannins.
I think i won't wait much to consume my remaing bottles because now is the right time for this Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux from the von Neipperg Galaxy

Pnp from a bottle coravined just a few days ago. Showing a little less on the nose than before, probably because of the pnp. Time and a little swirling in the glass helped the wine to open. Really a big, ripe and powerful wine still. Plums, cassis, black fruits, spice and plenty of toasty wood showing still. More time should help things calm down, still, purchased on release, this represents a good qpr.

Coravined half a bottle, decanted for 1 hour. Big, ripe, toasty right bank bordeaux. Palate shows lots of fruit and spice with a mineral backbone, and a little heat from the big abv. Didn't show as well as last time, but still went great with grilled beef.

Rich and powerful. Huge by traditional claret standards. Lots of toasty oak. Borderline overripe. Final bottle from a full case purchased at auction in 2019. Nothing wrong, but I'm glad that it's finished.

Oxidative nose. Which is a pity, because the palate is fine, rich and fleshy and powerful, with big fruit and a good charge of high quality new oak on the finish. We decided to put it in a rather luxurious Timballo alla Torrese...

Decanted for 2 hours. Like the '05 vintage, the '10's on the right bank are still pretty tannic and this is no exception. Big, full, ripe, and modern in style with notes of plum cherries, cassis, tobacco and oak. Sweet and smooth with a big abv, this wine is starting to mellow while at the same time retain much of its initial power and body. Looks like the drinking window will have to be extended as this is holding up well and still improving.

Many notes describe it well, this is pretty bold, fruity, oaky and modern. A bit too much for me, but then again I'm also more of a left-bank fan. Still quite enjoyable. It packs a punch!

Great wine, great price. I found this at Wegmans and thoroughly enjoyed this wine. It's still tannic but it's getting a little age to it complimenting the fruit with smokiness and meatiness. Could continue to further age and develop well.

Typical of the 2010 vintage, this is still remarkably tannic even though an hour or two of decanting smoothes things out considerably. Good earthiness and some relative richness of fruit. At $29 I paid back in 2017, this is great value and could last a number of additional years easily.

Nose: Bruleed cherry, dried red flower, aged alderwood.
Mouth: Smooth, well blended flavors of plum reduction, red cherry sauce and raspberry paste run up against savory flashes, further activating them as they fan out into a finish of melted red licorice, singed alderwood and white pepper. Powdered tannins check in, but have little claws left.
Overall: Well melded over the last decade while retaining still some of its original thrust. This was (and is) a strong effort with really good presence that has held up well over time. Drink now. 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc.

Decanted for 5 hours, then back into cleaned bottle. First bottle from case purchased on release. This is a big, modern right bank Bordeaux that showed very well. Big notes of cherry, plum, cassis, cacao, tobacco and a bit of that Bordeaux dust. Smooth and silky, with big, but ripe tannins, that kept the wine fresh, despite the big ABV. Rich, dense, full bodied and a bit on the sweet side without going over the edge. Nice wine.

Acquired on release. Opened and allowed to breathe about 45 minutes. Dark plum color with no bricking. Aromatically presents cacao, cassis, black raspberry, plums, and tobacco leaf. A round and plump entry with a sour burst of acidity, plum, cassis, and chalkiness. Fine grained and velvety tannins, but this turns a bit hollow in the mid-palate before picking up some tobacco leaf, cocoa, and anise on the finish. Good overall balance that presents a good QPR and earlier accessibility for the 2010 vintage.
Drink now through 2025.

This is a damn good wine, even if it is big (15% ABV) and flirting with overripeness. The cherry fruit is rich and concentrated, the right bank pedigree is unmistakable, there is a touch of dark chocolate but the overall profile is fresh enough and not port-like, the tannins are firm but velvety and enveloped in flesh, the finish is convincing even if slightly alcoholic. Good stuff, enjoy now-2025.

From a 375ml, decanted and started to drink after about 20 minutes.
There's medium+ sediment in the bottle.
This is very fruity on the nose, but also with a touch of pencil shavings.
On the palate initially it is very big and fruity by Bordeaux standards.
But after maybe 45 minutes of air the fruit moderates dramatically, and tannins and other developed characteristics develop. The pencil shavings come more to the fore. The finish is moderately long and bracing.
I give this a 90, but it depends on you being happy with the rapid development with air.

Surprisingly fresh and primary for a wine with 10 years of age - doesn’t taste a day above 5. Merlot-soft red fruits up front with some plum, leading the way to a saline/minerally blast of ripe cherry/blackberry and finishing with a little bit of earth. Ever so slight drying tannins. I’m impressed that $30 gave me such a bright showing for a 10 year old Bordeaux. Would love to see it in another 5-10.

Rich colour, still youthful but with some browning at the edges. Rich and savoury style, displays rich plummy fruit but it is much more about earth and spice, big and full (15% ABV) but not jammy, plush but slightly drying tannins, and a modicum of 2010 freshness. Rich but tight finish with a sense of back-end heat. This is quite impressive, and drinks pretty well today, but I am not sure where it is going. The delightful 2000 (13.5% ABV) lasted for almost 20 years, and this has more power but also a lot more alcohol. Does this have the balance for another 10 years?

It tastes like blackberry, black currant (cassis), fig and oak. The body is medium/full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has low acidity.

After about 1 1/2 hours this opened up nicely. Tannins were still there but muted allowing the fruit to come through. A nice full spectrum without the fruit bomb of many new world blends.

This continues to get better; highly drinkable now even on opening and yet the data suggests it still has so much left in it. Right off the corkscrew it has an intense nose of red fruit confit with luxurious seaside umami notes. It gives an impression of high-roller merlot and just wants to be sniffed. But one must drink it too. Refined and velvety cherry, cassis liqueur, and macaroon at first but developing a layered, chewey, rich texture full of plum and black fruit as it breathed. There are no empty spaces here, just densely packed right-bank pleasure.

Decanted, filtered and aerated. Deep dark purple hue. Still relatively youthful. Great nose of brambly dark fruit and mushrooms. Full bodied and lush on the palate with sweet tannins. Fantastic qpr. Sad that this was my last bottle. Joe found it to be magnificent and would rate it even higher than my score. A lovely cheap Right Bank Bordeaux. Highly recommend.

Very modern style. Big, bold and powerfull. No élégance here. No real surprises but didn’t expect it to be this powerful. First and last time for me although i can imagine that some people will love the boldness of this wine. But I don’t. Might settle down with some more age.

Quite a different kettle of fish when compared to the 2015. More power, structure and freshness, less generosity, some bitterness and also a touch of surmaturite (but not as pronounced as in Clos Lunelles 2010). It is difficult to tell, which Aiguilhe is the better one. The 2010 is more interesting, ambitious and feels slighty "forced", the 2015 is more relaxed and easier drinking. For me the 2015 may be slightly ahead.

Some will love that wine some will hate it. For me, a delightful piece of archeology... I had not drunk anything like this is a while, very dark very concentrated very dark ruby fruit very oaky wine but thanks to the quality of that vintage, great balance makes it very enjoyable. Always a fan of von Neipperg wines and Castillon is the most underated area in Bordeaux. Hence my 94 rating, just a great wine.

Quick decant. A bit tight on the palate but we were in a rush. Not as good as previous bottle. Had with brie and other soft cheeses. The nose was captivating with dark fruit and hints of anise. Nice full bodied mouth feel but just failed to deliver what it had on the nose. Will revisit with another bottle soon to see if there os bottle variation.

Relative to one year ago, much improved and quite enjoyable with some decanting. It will undoubtedly continue to evolve, but it's admittedly approachable and very good already, with voluptuous fruit that has some complexity and is not too thin.

“Bordeaux 1959 – 2014 (blind)”, flight 3, wine 1. The wine was very dark ruby in colour, the darkest wine of the flight. It offered concentrated fruit aromas, boiled down dark fruit, plum, dark cherry and spices on the nose. On the palate the wine showed sweet dark cherry, black currant, chocolate and spices, with medium to medium-plus acidity and fine, ripe, medium-plus tannin. Full-bodied, with great concentration and very good length. Very modern. Not my preferred style of Bordeaux and probably not the longest-lived 2010, but outstanding quality in its category.

Decanted for 2 hours. This is very approachable. Inky black loaded with fruit, kirsch, cassis and hints of leather and tobacco. I can't imagine this getting any better.
A wine that got better and better and better ; a wine of great generosity and style. Vanilla , blueberries, kirsch, and a faint hint at new leather make the wine so interesting to taste. It was fun to drink and it is rare that we say that. Nothing harsh , nothing astringent at all , just soft tannins and a gentle , but structured , mouthfeel. Matched classically with roast lamb and redcurrant reduction it was absolute perfection. Not a blockbuster but a very pleasing more modern style of Bordeaux. It was so good that one of our number who tasted it blind thought it at LEAST of second growth quality/precision.
If D'Aiguilhe 2010 is representative of new style Bordeaux we think it is in very safe hands . Indeed we liked this bottle more than the famous producer's wine from more illustrious and higher ranked vineyards in the same vintage. SUPERB FOR THE PRICE.

Color: Very dark and impenetrable. Nose: Soy sauce, dark licorice, fried bacon, blackberries. Mouth: Not as good as I remember. It lacks a bit complex aromas. Finish a bit bitter. To much cedar box. Finish a bit watery. Still a very good wine. Nice sourness in the midpalate. Ridiculous 15% alc. but very well hidden. Compared to my last tasting note this wine is going downhill. Well, "downhill" is not meant to be downhill downhill. It just has lost some of its deliciousness and flesh. To drink now or in the next 3 years.

Color: Dark and impenetrable. Nose: Wild berries, mostly darkberries, this is a wild berry compote. Raspberries and some cherries, too. In the background some spices. Very expressive and delicious nose. Mouth: Consistent with the nose but the spices are getting more pronounced. Pomegranate, too. A hint of delicious vanilla and coconut and even a tiny hint of button mushroom is lurking. The 15% alc. are fairly well hidden but despite the wine is a bit too alcoholic for my liking. Full bodied and big wine and very very delicious with some complexity but without being overly complex nor thoughtprovoking. Perfect with steak and game.

My first bottle of this case. This is a reliable QPR Bordeaux that often excels in good vintages. Clear dark garnet. Nose of blackberry, dust, and cedar. Ripe medium palate of blackberry, plum, black cherry, anise, cedar, and vanilla. Excellent length. Refreshing acidity that keeps you reaching for the glass. Nice minerality. Young tannins. Mostly integrated oak. I expect this to be better with another year or three in the cellar.

Beautiful color. Nice nose of blackberries and plum but doesn't seem to follow thru on first taste. It's flavors seem to come on at the finish which is nice. Not sure if additional collaring will help with the initial taste or not. I have 2 left and I'll space them out by 3 months and let you know. Not sure if I would by again.

Carmine at the rim - quite heavy tar on the nose. Medium to full bodied, initially quite closed and almost bitter. After 2-3 hours in the decanter it did open a bit, and soften yielding up some sweet fruit, hefty grainy tannins. This wine needs quite a bit more cellar time, try again in 2017.

Really interesting for its age. A lot of white pepper and wood. Still too young but a great potential and a nice final on blood orange. Fruit is somehow poor at the first moment. Cellar it 3 to 5 years and the tannins will be better integrated. The fruit will have a revival in this time. Thx for this fine wine for a solid price.

A gorgeous bottle of wine and easily the best Bordeaux I've had in recent memory. Surprisingly mature notes of blood orange drive the profile, with supple tannins and an acid profile that drags the finish out in a highly satisfying manner. This is an exotic wine to start, but when the barrel notes kick in it becomes irresistible in both aroma and flavor, satisfying both the thinker and the hedonist.

Impressive concentration and ripeness. Could in no way tell this was a Bordeaux wine. And while fruit is there it seems overoaked with oak and graphite elements making something not completely pleasant. I think it needs time. Quite powerful wine, needs time.

This wine has a quite deep, ruby red to purple colour. On the nose it offers a lot that what you expected from a right bank Bordeaux. There are ripe dark cherries and some other red and black fruits (blackberries, blueberries, ...). After some time of breathing notes of vanilla, coffee beans, polished leather and hints of tabacco and herbs (mediterranean herbs and mint) arrives. The palate repeats a lot from the nose. Surprisingly nuances of yellow fruits (dried apricots) appears on the mid-palate. The rich, powerful and mouth filling fruitness is escorted by a very high but fresh acidity and some for this terrior (limestone) typical minerality as well as ripe tannins which really coming out at the medium to long aftertaste. The acidity and tannins adds freshness and structure to this full bodied, modern style Bordeaux. The high alcohol (15 vol. %) is well integrated and does not show itself on the nose or the palate. This heavy wine is a little reserved and closed at the moment but will be more integrated and complex after a few years of cellaring or two to three hours in the decanter. I have tasted it over three days and stored the bottle at room temprature but it showed pretty well all the time, so I think this has potential to age. Good QPR (22,50 € in Germany)! Although it shows the "modern" concentrated fruitiness I do not miss the finesse and elegance of a "classic" Bordeaux. My recommend wine for those who want to enjoy a serious, reliable right bank Bordeaux with character which can be cellared for some years and is not too expensive. 91+ Points (2017-2030+)

Best of the lower priced 2010 BDX's I have had. It actually had some balance between the tannins and the fruit. I could see this one aging gracefully. It still had some tannin after 2 hour decant, but the fruit began to show itself. I real keeper fo under $30.

Dark, full bodied, beautiful dark fruit. More tannines and 'depot' than the 2009. Very good and drinkable now, but not that complex yet. Next bottle 2015.

Deep nose of dark fruit, chocolate, coffee and a bit of oak. The palate matched and is forward, easy to enjoy now, but the depth is there to last. Medium finish. Great value

I was expecting this wine to be quite closed (as it is still so young) but there was plenty of dark plum, blackcurrant and pencil shaving on the nose & palate. The body was quite medium, with surprisingly ripe (although certainly present) tannins.
Very modern style and obviously a classy wine - however a touch 'new world-y' dare I say? Maybe this is what modern Bordeaux is all about now, but fingers crossed all the classic savoury, smoky, brambly flavours will develop over the next 5-6 years. It definitely has the acidity and fruit to carry it.
As a side note the ABV for this wine is up at 15%, but almost completely undetectable. Testament to good wine making no doubt.

Dark garnet color. Nose of oily leather, cedar closet, and pencil shavings, with a whiff of menthol. Palate is similarly dense, but all bound up in a tight web of tannins. Decanted overnight, the nose now exhibits meaty aromas, as well as berries and a floral, potpourri-like scent. The palate is still dominated by the woodsy, tannic structural elements, but has begun to express a bit more in the way of tart red fruit. This needs at least three years to mellow out a bit, and should drink well for at least a decade.

Very pleasantly surprised. Not because I enjoyed it but because it seemes so evolved and complete. It seems certain it will get better but even now I detect no harsh tannins and no rough edges. The nose was a bit mute for me, though I did get blueberries and vanilla as other tasters have noted . Beyond that I struggled to identify waht made up a very pleasant, young bouquet. My companions on the night rated it both older and classier which is a always a good sign. Even if it doesn't improve it is still a lovely soft smooth young wine to enjoy with a rare steak !! In fact 89 is the absolute low score on this wine and a very strict guide...

Dark purple color. Beautiful nose of dark chocolate, coffee, plum, cassis/black currant, blueberries, sweet spices and some vanilla/oak. On the palate, there are beautiful flavors of plum, chocolate/coffee, dark berries, earth, smoke and some tar. Medium-full bodied, dense, with medium acidity and medium+ tannin. Long finish. This is a surprisingly lush and opulent kind of Château d'Aiguilhe but with enough tannic structure and acidity to make sure that it will age nicely for about 10 years. I’m surprised by how accessible it already is (if you don’t mind some tannin…). Château d’Aiguilhe has been one of the best values in Bordeaux for years… and this is no exception. (92+)

Flight 1, Bordeaux, Wine 4 (blind): The wine was very dark purple in colour. It offered ripe, candied fruit, blackberry, spices and some pepper on the nose. On the palate the medium- to full-bodied wine showed ripe dark fruit, blackberry, dark cherry and spices, paired with well-integrated medium-plus acidity, medium-plus smooth tannin and very good length. The 15% ABV was surprisingly well contained. A ripe blockbuster style with lots of oak, but without question very well made. Needs some time; start drinking from 2016. 89 for now, with potential to improve.

With a good deep color, the wine offers truffle, tobacco and sweet black cherries in the nose. Structured, fresh, bright and now tight, the wine is not a lot of fun to taste for the moment. Give it a 3-5 years in the cellar before popping a cork.
With a licorice, black cherry, smoke, spice and espresso bean nose, this supple ripe, spicy black raspberry jam filled wine is one of the top wines from the Cotes de Castillon appellation. 91-92 Pts

d’Aiguilhe – This 50-hectare vineyard produced with a typical blend for the appellation, 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc is aged in 50% new oak. Dark, purple ruby in color, with a perfume of licorice, jammy dark berries and oak, the wine is round in texture and is filled with delicious ripe black and red fruits, chocolate and spicy, fresh berries. 90-92 Pts

Drink now. - 88 points

I like this producer and buy a few bottles in most vintages. This 2010 is delicious. Mix of pure dark and red fruit, well balanced, acidity adding freshness to balance out all that fruit, and enough going on to keep it somewhat interesting. Tannins and alcohol are well integrated. This likely has more than a few good years left.

as of 2022: open an hour early; decanting would be OK, but haven't tried this approach yet.

Our last bottle and what sadness that gives us.

Dark, purple ruby in color, with a perfume of licorice, jammy dark berries and oak, the wine is round in texture and is filled with delicious ripe black and red fruits, chocolate and spicy, fresh berries. 90-92 Pts
