Saturday, December 24, 2016 - Served alongside roasted lamb, Peking Duck and honey-coated duck legs. Morello cherries, worn-out leathers, sotto bosco and gingerbread dominate the bouquet. After some additional aeration in the glass, also notes of plums, cloves, some amarena cherries, mushrooms, dried rose petals and raspberries. This wine is quite finely woven and treads very lightly on the palate. On the other hand I’d say that it has always been rather light-footed and elegant than being of the flamboyant sort. Fresh acidity, almost completely resolved, fine-grained tannins, medium-bodied, 13.5%, raspberries, tart cherries and other red fruits, with a touch of licorice. Very sophisticated. Medium to long-lasting finish. Drink now.

Zur Entenkeule Teriyaki mit Honigglasur und Lammbraten. Schattenmorellen, altes Leder, sotto bosco und Pfefferkuchen. Mit zunehmend Luft auch Pflaume, Nelke, etwas Amarenakirsche, Pilze, getrocknete Rosenblüten und Himbeeren. Im Mund sehr leicht gewoben und äußerst fein gestrickt. Wohl nie sonderlich laut gewesen, sondern schon immer eher auf leisen Sohlen unterwegs. Frische Säure, fast vollständig weggeschmolzene, feinsandige Tannine, mittelkräftiger Körper, 13,5 Vol.-%, rote Früchte, wie Himbeeren und Sauerkirschen, mit einem Touch Lakritz. Fein und sehr elegant. Mittlerer bis langer Nachhall. Jetzt trinken.
