Tuesday, March 24, 2020 - man, this wine was singing 3 years ago. now, it's really lacking vibrancy and attention. it was borderline on getting that caramelly, butterscotch notes on the nose, but just barely. the finish had good intensity and length.... certainly not a bad wine, but i truly preferred it younger when the acidity was refreshing and cleansing, and the flavors were more delineated.

5/22/2020 7:49:00 PM - dr, at what point can we no longer say the wine is oxidized? 20 years? 30 years? for me it is an interesting question.

that said, the wine, for my palate was a bit advanced. glad to hear yours was singing. i've now started buying samuel billaud's wines. kind of sad his family forced him to sell a bunch of their holdings. super nice guy and real good wine maker.
