2018 Chateau Ste. Michelle Chardonnay

Community Tasting Note

Does not like this wine:

78 Points

Saturday, October 3, 2020 - 14.0% alcohol; composite cork, medium-weight foil; fast legs, crystalline yellow; opened and kept in the fridge for 24 hours before tasting; nose of alcohol and citrus, metal and wet paper, earth; tasted at approximately 13 degrees C, full bodied, the secondary malolactic fermentation comes on strong, blending in with muscat raisins, New Zealand Manuka honey, minerals, also something in the background that tastes like old fermented bittersweet fruit; the wine is fruit forward and weighted toward fruitiness and sweetness, and away from tannins and sourness; the components are more disjointed than they are layered; the finish is lingering but not especially pleasant; if you're expecting a dry, complex chardonnay, don't choose this one
