Thursday, August 18, 2022 - Finally…A 2005 that’s ready to drink. Decanted two hours but doesn’t need it. Wine is smooth with soft tannins. Surprisingly light weight with a light mouthfeel. Nice flavor layers. I was expecting a bigger wine. Easily drinkable by itself. Cab dominates the flavor profile. My next bottle I will decant 30 minutes. I didn’t get much barnyard on the nose. Light but enjoyable.

8/18/2022 10:46:00 AM - Mark…You are Right. Looking back this Chateau always has earlier maturing wines compared to most. This isn’t a 25 plus year wine.

8/18/2022 11:09:00 AM - I have 3 of this '05 left and 1 of the '03 which is still drinking well at nearly 20 yo. I don't think many of their older vintages exceeded that. However, with the owner having passed, I think the son is doing things a little different and maybe better now, so hopefully, these turn into longer agers going forward from '18 on. Of course, I'm an old ager almost myself at 64, so not buying new Bdxs anymore!

8/20/2022 9:46:00 AM - Ditto.....I splurged on a couple '18s and one '19 but they are Chateau that I can enjoy earlier on so don't necessarily need to let them sit 20 more years. If I want an '09 for a special occasion in 2028, I'll just go out and find it somewhere!
