Saturday, January 12, 2013 - In spite of positive Cellar Tracker notes in the past few months, this came as a pleasant surprise. The cork was almost completely soaked, but there was no funk or indications of oxidation on the nose. Pretty light color, clear at the rim. Nice nose that became more prominent over the course of an hour. Bright red berries on the nose and on the palate, along with traces of pepper. Fairly light body, but a lengthy, almost sweet finish. No obvious heat. Unmistakeably a zin, but I might have guessed it was from 2006, not 1996.
