Saturday, January 6, 2018 - I love wine. This is the oldest Brunello I have consumed thus far, and is so different from anything I have ever tasted. I was really worried that this may be past its prime, but it is just seemed perfect to me.

The color of the wine is a light garnet with bricking at the rim.

On the nose, initially some barnyard funk that quickly gave way to cherry, leather, smoke, and a hint of nutmeg.

On the palate cherry once again, with butter, caramel, caramelized onions, (perhaps the sweet tobacco mentioned by RMALLORY) finishing to tannins that are recognizable but not intrusive, followed by leather and smokiness last seems to go on forever.

I only had this one bottle, so I have no idea where this is in its maturity cycle, but seems to be drinking very well right now.
