Sunday, April 24, 2022 - Big and almost brawny. I prefer my pinots to be elegant, and this is the exact opposite. Earthy, black-fruited, heavy, dense, spicy and with tar (can't remember if I've ever tasted tar in a pinot before - and I'm really old) - more like an Australian Shiraz than a California pinot, but without the dryness or graininess of a shiraz. Medium to full-bodied with soft edges and not near enough acidity for my palate - and way, way out of balance. To me, this is like an expensive Belle Glos - and I hate Belle Glos. I opened it to have with dinner. May have to open a different wine. Will not score as it so far out of my wheelhouse I just don't get it. .
