Monday, April 29, 2019 - Kumeu River Round Table (Knightsbridge, Northbrook IL): Nose: There is a bit of reduction immediately on the nose, but with some swirling it pulls back into dark red cherries, raspberries, violets, roses, earth tones, plums, dark red berries, and a touch of tobacco. There is excellent complexity, but it does lack a slight bit of depth.
Taste: Medium bodied with tart, medium+ acidity and chewy, medium+ tannins. The feel is well balanced and lithe with dark red cherries, raspberries, violets, earth tones, plums, and tobacco.
Overall: This is an excellent, though quite young, Pinot Noir. There is good complexity and balance with a sour side to the red fruits. It does need some air right now, but it will be better in 3-5 years.
