Friday, August 28, 2009 - This blend of 75% Sangiovese and 25% Merlot throws a color of purple in the core and burgundy - deep burgundy - on the rim. Wow! on the nose with plum, cherry, vanilla and cocoa. A warm tobo element grows in the background. Delightful! The wine is not at all “hot” but it has a warmth about it that is pleasing. Good acidity balances the fruit on the attack and plays tag with the tannins. Good depth on the palate. 15% alc. With grilled pork chops covered with gorgonzola and a plum, onion and walnut chutney. Recommended, but leaning to Highly Recommended.
