Friday, May 4, 2018 - Mixed feelings here. WmMcCone54 suggested "If you like Cabernet Sauvignon that is way over extracted, extremely ripe, highly alcoholic, unbalanced and very confected, then this is your wine." I have to agree with him, though I do enjoy wines similar to this.

It's a little thin, not much on the nose, lots of sweet red fruit, barely noticeable tannin, but I don't enjoy the candy notes. This is a good quaffing wine and would be popular at parties with folk who aren't big fans of red wine. I prefer wines that are approachable, like this, to wines that are nasty, and it's easy to find red wine that cost $50 to $100 and is bitter and nasty.

It tastes nicer with steak than on its own. But ultimately, it's all about price. In New York this will cost anywhere between $14 and $23.
and it's blown away by the Juan Gil Monstrell (silver label, 2015, $13.59).

This is a fine quaffing wine - but I'd like to try some of the better Michael-David wines.
