Saturday, February 27, 2021 - This took some time to open which surprised me. Plenty of color and richly fruited. Chalky grip. Showing a bit of maturity but given the vintage I sort of expected something slighter and more advanced. Especially given this was disgorged in April 2016. Another data point to Chardonnay having a good vintage almost every year in Champagne. That all said this is good but not great. Like a nice Chablis with sparkling and a touch of dosage. Would be a great companion for a nice seafood dinner. It's a clear message for me to keep aging my bottlings of this from better vintages. Five years under cork and it's drinking fine and young. Good stuff.
