2015 Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

flawed

Tuesday, September 12, 2023 - The color is pretty remarkable. Very brick, almost brown. As a fan of new world wines, this color trips me up and makes me think it’s older than it is. The color alone makes it seem like an 80’s Napa cab.

The tannins are nicely integrated and soft. Very pleasant on the palate. This leaves plenty of room for the taste of the wine. The acid is medium to medium plus and accents the cherry flavor well. Outside of cherries, I feel like this is all secondary. Mushroom, compost, slight truffle.

Definitely a good change up from all the fruit bombs I’m used to. I don’t see this improving with more time, in my opinion. Hard to believe the drinking window, according to CT, is just now starting. For $75, I feel like the QPR is a bit off.

Cheers!

9/13/2023 11:23:00 AM - Thanks for the feedback! I am inexperienced with Barolo #1, and #2 inexperienced with flawed/oxidized wine. Hard to tell to be honest. I have two other bottles I might open soon just to compare.
