Saturday, July 14, 2007 - Aged 12 months in mostly new barrique. More of the spicy perfume and crushed fennel seed found in the '05 Langhe nebbiolo, but with a silkier palate, and biting acid. Dense and tight, with more penetrating, mouthcoating tannin than the Langhe nebbiolo. With some swirling fresh red currant and cherry flavors briefly emerge from the wall of tannin. Some obvious oak flavors show up on the finish.
