Saturday, April 30, 2022 - From a 1.5L. format. Deep dark garnet in color with slight clearing at the edges. Full, forward & fragrant nose of well developed, ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blackberries & cassis with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes of violets, minerals, cigar box notes of cedar & aged tobacco, mint, cocoa spices & a hint of graphite & tar in the background. Full bodied, with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, mature, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blueberries & plums with spices, herbs, cocoa & minerals. Long lingering smooth finish. Drinks quite well at present & at 40 years of age, it may be at its pinnacle of development although it should hold for a bit longer. Cork was halfway stained but intact with the fill level at mid-neck.
