Community Tasting Note

Friday, November 24, 2023 - A friendsgiving tradition, we always open our first bottle of the newest SQN white. Popped and poured. Deep color. Starts out very grassy, quite reminiscent of a sauv blanc actually, along with citrus fruit. Flavors of spice, citrus and melon are nearly overwhelmed by oak and toasted wood tones. Improved a bit with air, developing a lovely white peach note, but at this stage the oak is a bit much. New oak accounted for only 45% of the barrels used when making this wine, but it really stands out. This will need plenty of time for the wood to integrate. I much preferred the Andremily white opened alongside.
