Tuesday, February 23, 2021 - Tyrrell's Vat 9 Vertical: Contrasted with the 2000 Vat 9, the 2003 was slightly less expressive on the nose. Red fruited, midbodied with earth and spices. Tannins fully resolved and with a good acid line, there is a brett layer that rests lightly on top of the fruit like a blanket. If you can see through this, an enjoyable wine that likely is as good as it gets, and best approached now. However, like a Magic Eye puzzle, once you notice the brett layer it is hard to unsee. Cork.
