92 Points

Friday, December 15, 2017 - PnP. Never had a wine that smelled so meaty. Like dry beef jerky, gamey, slightly sweet. Mid palate and finish quite weak at the beginning but with time in the glass it became better and better. Classic CDP herbal component, rather dark fruits, nice velvety structure and the hyper interesting meat component (which became less stark and better integrated with time). But we also had a not overly well integrated acidity and a little bit of heat (both especially at the beginning). It changed quite significantly in the 1.5 hours in the glass but I guess this has to be decanted much longer (my advice: 4-6 hours) to show its true colors. Today, 95 for the complexity and potential and 90+ for the overall, slightly weird experience. Will definitely try another one soon to see if more air can lift it to much higher levels. Not sure if waiting 10 years will do the job as the fruit component might be vanished by then.
