Friday, March 15, 2024 - A bottle I've had in the cellar about 20 years. V511 on the cork, if anyone can decode that.
Fairly deep straw colour. Nice mousse on pouring, and lovely persistent stream of tiny bubbles in the glass.
Lots of buttery brioche on the nose, pear fruit and some kaffir lime leaf florality. Lovely depth and complexity on the nose.
Remarkably fresh tasting (much fresher than the colour would have you believe). Perfectly balanced, and really rather satisfying. Has more of the weight and character that I associate now with English Sparkling Wine rather than other French grande marques.
Nice richness, even the slightest hint of caramel on the finish.
