2009 Clos Lunelles

Friday, October 15, 2021 - Rich and hedonistic on the nose on opening. Endless berries and chocolate. Initial tasting is similar having rested in a decanter for 30 mins. Absolutely lovely and batting a long way out of its league! But as with previous bottles, after 60/90 mins this starts to fade and the alcohol takes over, detracting from the experience. Tertiary flavours appear but are overpowered by the 14.5%. It is still great QPR, but left wishing (unfairly at this price point) for slightly better balance, as with it this could be so so good! As it is - great QPR, definitely in a good spot, just not sure how to deal with the high alcohol….

10/15/2021 11:05:00 PM - A bottle this good, and I have a few 2009 Lunelles, doesn’t tend to last more than the hour over dinner when shared with my wife. Not sure what that says about our drinking habits !
