bought on release and properly cellared until opening. needs 1 hour of air to meld...wow...springing blueberries and strawberries, hints of coffee, kiwi (which properly integrates into balance with time/air) and tar that also mellows with air. nice integration and layers. fruit forward modern style.

As Pinots go, this is on the spicy side. Nice fruit, structure and overall balance. This is solid offering and definitely stands out for its considerable spice. In a perfect spot right now. Should hold for several years. These Auteur wines definitely benefit from cooler climate and show off those characteristics quite well.

Floral nose, with an intense spice background. Fleshy plum, dark cherry, powerful spice with firm acidity. Finishes with lightly tart cranberry. Lovely and still very youthful.

Pop and pour. Kind of funky and earthy initially, bits of spice and herbs. An hour later in the glass, it has taken on a whole new personality. Hits you with all kinds of dark, ripe berries, a sweetness resembling a cherry cola. Silky mouth feel and the word luscious comes to mind. Medium finish. The spice fades with more time as well as all of the earthy notes. Tannins barely there at this point. It seems this wine is lacking the structure to stand up to father time, but I'm still absolutely loving it tonight. The bottle will not make it to night two.

Not quite a year after first note, but the last of three bottles. Shows a deep pretty ruby red color. Even more pronounced spice nose, herbs, tea, peper, cola, smoke and strawberry. Distinctly darker in fruit tones, cherry, ripe strawberry, blueberry, all leading to a long lingering finish with clean acidity.

14.2% alcohol. Dark cherry color. Good texture, a rich, sumptuous mouth feel. It's got good black cherry and blackberry fruit, with solid spice and earth notes. There's bright acidity, but the wine lacks some pop. It really does popped, however, when it is paired with fresh black cherries. Then it really pops on the fruit. B+

Pretty ruby red that opens with a floral asian spice nose and juicy raspberry, cherry and pine needles. Very round and elegant with late ariving tannins actually taking on weight with time open. Long finish brings more fruit, raspberry, strawberry and bing cherry. Very well done.

Pop and pour. This is an interesting wine presenting multiple facades and personalities over the short time it has been opened. At first, it has a rich red fruit front backed by tart under-ripe berries. The wine then evolves to show a funky pinot character - forest floor and some animal characteristics. What's this? Espresso? A strong coffee component appears on the back end. Now settling in some half hour after opening. Good red fruit, a tartness to it, with earthy/coffee flavors. We will follow this and see what happens.Quite different wine. Shows a core of good fruit framed with some woodsy elements. Nice long finish with vanilla and brown spice.

A little on the earthy side with lots of dark fruit flavors. Continued to evolve over an hours time. Very good.

Slightly disappointing but co-tasters really liked it. Slight earthiness. Just ok for my taste

Can't figure Auteur out. They make nicely balanced, not over-oaked, chards, but their pinots are un-balanced, over-ripe and flabby.

Really liked this one. Delicate, floral with just a hint of acidity that worked well with salmon.

Deep garnet color, tastes of bright strawberry's, black pepper, dry herbs, and toast, with a medium finish.
