Big acid (curling acid on the tip of the tongue), but was served at 73 degrees. Cooled it off and gave it another shot - much better. Dark color, dark cherry and plum nose and taste, still fairly acidic, but good. Day 2 was considerably better--more fruit, less acid, much more smooth. Barely drinkable on day 1, but really quite good on day 2.

The previous reviewers drank this a year too soon. We LOVED it! Gorgeous deep ruby in the glass, with jammy nose of cherry, blueberry, and plums. Mouthfeel is perfectly balanced between acid and tannin and a certain smoothness, though not velvety at all, but oh, so smooth. This paired well with a spicy chicken enchilada dish, but would be great paired with the bumper of a car! Just wish we had bought a few more bottles of this last fall when we were in Monterey .... Great wine for the price!

Rough when first opened, but one day later it was much smoother. Nose was reminiscent of black current (OK, Ribena), taste was similarly black current, nice n' jammy.
interesting...I heard 14 months and 40%new oak!!! where's this info coming from? winemakers? sales reps? bums? a neat animal nose with very nice and present, balanced acid.

On the nose, black cherries and plums. On the palate, sour cherries, very acidic, too much heat showing. This had too many rough edges and is not what I typically think of as syrah.

OK but not extraordinary IMHO. A bit of fruit, some tannins....
